Now I am not usually one to brag. In fact, I hate it. I prefer the humble route. I would way rather talk about someone else's achievements or kids then my own. I think that's the way it should be, really. Who am I to think other people really care to listen to me chatter incessantly about myself. AND, I hate when people do this to me, so even more reason not to do it myself.
But this news is too good not to share. And mainly because it is yet another testament to the success of homeschooling. When Rachel was in school, I did not think she was very good at math. She could multiply, but just barely, and I saw her just getting further and further over her head. And this, mind you, while she was in the elementary school's highly capable math program (says a lot, huh?) When we started homeschooling we focused on math the way it should be. Basics, and drill & kill, before moving further. Now, 2 1/2 years later, Rachel just completed her Johns Hopkins testing and received an award for high honors, with a score in the 99th percentile for math! This means as a 6th grader, she is doing the math of a 9th grader and getting a better score then the majority of them. Just one more reason to be so thankful for our choice...

ReplyDeleteYou guys are amazing!

Not amazing at all. Really just the program and the gift of time. When everything is so rushed at school it makes it hard to focus and really learn so it sticks. At least for RMD.
