The last 3 books I've read have all mentioned knitting in them. It is so strange, since I am lately really in to knitting. I have 3 or 4 projects going, on my own and for my homeschool co-op knitting class.
Here are the books:
Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens - in this one, Madame DeFarge, one of the 3rd caste women, is constantly knitting names of "spies" and such into her work. She is really creepy and gives knitting a bad name.
The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield - a widow knits socks and each time she messes up while turning the heel of a sock, something bad and/or strange happens. This struck me, since our next knitting class project is socks!
A Gathering of Days – A New England Girl’s Journal 1830-32 by Joan W. Blos - This is a good book on Rachel's pile of historical youth fiction. The girls in the book are also knitting socks and turning heels. I can't wait to learn how!
